Barnas Fredsverden is the organiser and initiator of the seminar YOUTH & ACTION: towards a new generation for peace which is organised every year in the summer since 2012, in Moss Norway. The seminar brings together youth from 13 to 18 years who are offered a unique chance to work on peace and conflict resolution in a “different” way.
Through non-formal learning activities, workshop, games, playshops, sports and outdoor activities, youth experience 5 days of a rich programme where they meet, talk, exchange, engage and understand in order to become active citizens and peace-builders of this world. Organizations working in the field of peace and conflict resolution such as Play for Peace (US), Refugee Council of Norway (NRC), Nansen Center for Peace and Dialogue (NO), Crossing Borders (DK), CISV (NO), Sabona Core Group (NO), and many others have accepted our invitations to come and work with our youth on integration, intercultural communication, cultural identities, human rights, freedom and are working to put up with us uplifting and energetic workshops.

Every year, in parallel to our seminar, the youth is also given the possibility to participate to different cultural and social activities such as the Peace Speech which is always organised on 14th august celebrating the signature of the “Moss convention” an important historial moment for the history of Norway (referring to the peace agreement of 1814). The youth is also engaged into organising and being part of a “street party” which intends to open up our hearts and go into the streets of Moss and share with children, families, all the people what we have learned about peace – the street party is a fantastic event with food, music, dance and games + a lot of surprise !
